Why Play-Based Immersion Works

The Science of the "Young Brain"

Children possess a unique “window of opportunity” for language acquisition. Unlike adults, who learn through logic and translation, kids learn naturally through context.

At Polyglots, we leverage this by creating a “Low-Filter” environment. By removing the stress of formal testing and replacing it with games, music, and social interaction, we allow the brain to absorb French and Spanish syntax and vocabulary as naturally as a first language.

Polyglots Summer Camps

The perfect place for learning a language through play

Our immersion summer camps are a lot of fun! Your child will learn words and phrases in French or Spanish while playing. Our camp is ideal for children to start to experience a second language without the stress of an academic curriculum and for students who are in French or Spanish immersion to continue practicing the language during the summer.
We specialize in immersion that feels like a vacation. Whether your child is a total beginner or already in French/Spanish immersion school, our teachers use songs, stories, and games to build their confidence.
Objective:

Our approach at Polyglots is to immerse your child in French or Spanish in a fun and natural way. Children will learn through songs, stories, games, and play, guided by a teacher who is fluent in the target language. Children have so much fun that they don’t even realize they are learning!

Activities:

In our activities we spend a lot of time outside playing games, building things, doing science experiments, and making art/crafts. As they play, they will learn words and phrases in Spanish or French.

Themes:

In our camps, we have weekly themes. We make imaginary trips around the world to different countries, and learn about their cultures and traditions while playing.

The Four Pillars of Our Method

Target Language Immersion

We don't translate; we demonstrate. By using visual cues, body language, and repetitive actions, we ensure children understand the meaning of words without ever needing to hear the English equivalent.

Kinesthetic Learning (Movement)

Kids don't sit still, and neither do our lessons. We use Total Physical Response (TPR)—where children dance, jump, and act out stories—to lock new vocabulary into their long-term muscle memory.

Cultural Connectivity

A language is a gateway to the world. Our method integrates authentic cultural experiences, from making Mexican crafts to learning Parisian songs, ensuring students respect and love the cultures behind the words.

Active Learning

Linguistic confidence comes from feeling safe to make mistakes. We foster a supportive community where every "attempt" is celebrated, turning shy students into confident communicators.

Supporting the Method at Home

Parents often ask how they can help. Recommending a few playful tools can keep the “immersion” going outside of camp hours.

  • Interactive Games: A Spanish Bingo for Kids is a fantastic way to practice vocabulary as a family without it feeling like “homework.”
  • Musical Immersion: Playing Children’s Songs in French in the car helps with accent mimicry and ear training.
